At the height of her fury, Medea commits the unspeakable act of slaughtering her children to punish Jason for his infidelity. The dragons surrounding the witch tell of the evil nature of her power, while the fearful gestures of the audience, hiding under the table or jumping out of the window, remind us of the terror of magic used to evil ends.
How, looking at this image, can we not think of the Purple Wedding of Game of Thrones? In the middle of the banquet, death comes to punish the infidelity of the hero (Robb Stark), who sees his wife and unborn child slaughtered before his eyes, before being himself killed. But killing an innocent child rarely goes unpunished: Voldemort learned this to his own cost at the beginning of the Harry Potter saga.
